tuition, the new school

Tuitions.. ask any teenager, most of them will tell you its their best friend. The times we (teenagers) are living in now, tuition has almost become a must.Wanna find a person who has 7 to 10 tuition classes, no problemo.Students with strings of tuitions are no more an abnormality.. in fact, one without them are the abnormal ones..

Looks to me like the whole education system has took on an evolution..haha. Ask any of our parents, they say something like this.."where got ppl take tuitions.during my time, only the very rich get tuitions, that also 1 or 2 only..and see..we still came out ok.." ain't this a common and old lecture to us.. But...., there is also another diolouge i am very familiar of.. "i used to have the best teacher".. adults always tell me that.. sadly, it is not now..

Schools.. aren't they suppose to teach and educate us?? that is not the case anymore..now, we learn from tuitions.. so imagine..the 7 hours we spend at school for 5 days, has to be substitued by tuitions! explains why the strings of tuitions..

Teachers in schools now, sigh..makes me say.."i will pick up teaching in uni, to become a teacher, my teachers weren't", and not " i will pick up teaching in uni because i have been inspired by my teachers to give others the experience i had".. i have teachers who come in to class.."hari ini cikgu penat.kita mula belajar esok"..i have teachers who can't remember simple formulars..how are we suppose to learn things in school?

Compared to the "old-timers"(senior teachers) who knows everything at the tip of their fingers..the sort of respect that creates adoration and be an inspiration to students..one which know their work well and can really explain all the "whys" that come in ther way.. too bad for us, these quality teachers can be said, at the brink of extinction.. new teachers now cant even speak English well, they dont know formulars, and they teach with a Cd which goes.."EXCELLENT" everytime u click the right answer..they manuever their bikes in school compund, and right up to the class' doorstep!..how are we to respect teachers like that?

So, we go for tuitions.. tuitions which are taught by senior teachers..tuitions that we can actually learn something at.. therefore, tuitions are now playing the role of schools..students would rather pay RM250 a month to go for intensive tuition than go for free extra classes organized by schools.. why is this so?? shouldn't schools look into the matter and find a better solution than "semua wajib hadir..kalau tidak, kena denda".. sound like a frikking joke to me..

I know, i know...not everything is to be blamed on teachers..we as student have to play our part too..no point having the best teacher and we sleep and gossip in class right?? no point learning from the best and not do any revision at all.. But thing is, the weight here is more to the teachers.. We are, whay ppl say.. "raw".. as an individual growing up, still imature, we need someone who can inspire us..who can really educate us well..set an example to us.. besides, if a teacher is really inspiring and interesting, we wont be sleeping and gossiping in class..

As my mentor told me (she is also a teacher).. i blame myself when students make noise in my class because it shows i am not able to make them interested in my teaching..another teacher said.. "before every class, i look through my notes..u think its easy teaching? students now look at you, waiting for one wrong move to fire at.." him saying this shows the burden to teach in him..

yes, there are non-senior teachers who are very respectable..but they are few..and i really thank God for putting me in a place where i can be taught and inspired by these few..to name them, A.Amelia, U.Ti Pheng, A.Kanaga.. and to the senior teachers.. A.Peh Lan and U.Ch'ng.. THANK YOU..
