school stories
3 subs r in d waiting list for "perbentangan" or in other words, presentation. one on Islamic Economic System is due this week, another on Perkembangan Tamadun next week, and one funny one on Perkembangan Bahasa Melayu Moden next week or mayb later..
Doing research and having to present it in front of the class does help us in preparation for later. After looking at a few groups presenting, i realised how lacking we as students are nowadays. Blame the education system?? that's a debate for another day.. anyway, d groups that had presented were doing something like a reading class.. they were talking to their books, and just go on rambling d same thing d book projects to their eyes. Confidence, 0. Eye contact, 0. body language, 0. Extra information, 0. Sign of well prepared, 0. basically, it was miserable.
Dont get me wrong. i am not saying or implying that i am better or good. I just imagined them being able to present at a 18 year old-student-standard. or in more chim words, Pre-University. anyway, hope that all d speaking and presenting in church and myf will help me with my presentation.
that was all just "pendahuluan" to my post.. here is d real thing.
Yes, i agree that this is good training for university education. The problem is, teachers/teacher have dumb the job of educating on us in the name of "early preparation". The way i see it, teacher comes into class and gives us topic for presentation cos they r just too lazy to teach. Too lazy to prepare for class and not putting any effort at all in making the class interesting. u may ask how am i sure that they dont have our best interest at heart. let me quote something teacher said. "berapa lama pun boleh. cakap 3 minit pun boleh. apa yang penting saja. kalau tak ada apa nak cakap, mari menari". Best interest at heart? yeah... Teacher's own interest. GAJI BUTA!
And another problem they dont seem to care about, or rather cant do anything about. English is an INTERNATIONAL LANGUAGE! which means, many or most research and opinions are written in ENGLISH. and we are suppose to present them in, BAHASA MALAYSIA :)
so what u think? am i suppose to b grateful that i have this fabulous opportunity to train myself, or tell myself that i'm being taken advantage of in the name of 'early preparation" and that i should voice out what i think.

Yup! Sounds like your cikgu taking the easy way... you guys (and gals) should consider this... in your presentation ask the cikgu this and that... to stimulate their brains a bit also. LOL!
I feel this early preparation thingy is a good thing for students or anyone who wants to learn. It makes you read up on things, gain a better variety of knowledge than required for the presentation. Thank teachers who make an effort to teach well, don't get frustrated about teachers not doing anything. Most important is in the end of the day, you yourself made effort to learn something. With that I'm pretty sure you're putting a smile on God's face:)
